On 12/30/16, the Celtics defeated the Heat 117-114 in Boston's final game of 2016. Avery Bradley was absent for this game due to an illness, so someone had to step up big in his absence. Isaiah Thomas stepped up his game in a big way, ending the year with a bang, scoring a career-high 52 points. It was one of the most incredible performances in Celtics history. Thomas was the first Celtic to score 50 points since Paul Pierce did it in 2006. Isaiah had 47 with less than a minute left and had to pull up from way behind the three-point line to beat the shot clock. He hit the big three-pointer to get to 50. He later got to the free throw line to score his final two points to cap off his historic night, finishing the game with more points than Miami's starting five put together.
